Bush Princess creates chic handbags with an aesthetic that mixes traditional African artisan work and urban style. Each bag is made by hand under fair trade conditions in their own production facility in Nairobi, and supports the continuation of local craft. Many of their pieces are adorned with local trims and exceptional beadwork done by the local Maasai women. And each piece in always made by hand to ensure a high level of quality – one which cannot be achieved by machinery.
Bush Princess is one of the few handbags with a transparent leather supply chain – they source all leather locally from nearby Kenyan tribes, who graze their animals in the vast African plains and produce leather of the highest quality.
Even the trims on their products have a story – about 50% of the brass items used are made by artisans from the Kibera informal settlement in Nairobi and are made from recycled metal.
