Fashion was the last industry I saw myself working. But somewhere in between scraping plates in my universities’ cafeteria for food waste studies to my arm digging rumen out of a cow’s fourth stomach for ecological restoration research–I realized a lot.
Sure I loved fashion, but the industries seemingly vain roots repelled me in a different direction. And it wasn’t until I realized I was completely blind to the thing I owned so much of, that a passionate and fulfilling relationship grew between me, my clothing, the people who make it and the places it came from.
Standing as the third largest industry in the world, it’s intricate global supply chain is, by large, masked. So in an era of conscious consumerism–where is fashion headed in 2014?
