Kowtow-Shadowdress1

Made with 100% fair trade organic cotton, Kowtow’s Shadow Dress tops this week’s Weekly Want. Lightly elegant, the loose fitting dress can also be tied at the waist for a tightened silhouette. Amidst a cold winter, this dreamy white summer dress has us lusting for warm sunshine on the shoulders, bare feet and long summer nights.

Kowtow-ShadowDress All of Kowtow’s collections use fair trade 100% certified organic cotton from India fostering stable and safe work environments for farmers, the environment and the wider community.

Organic cotton production ensure the elimination of GMO cotton seeds. Introduced in 1996, GMO cotton currently accounts for 50% of the global cotton production.

Moreover, certified organic cotton must undergo crop rotation, giving the soil time to rejuvenate naturally rather than artificially pumping in fertilizers to add nutrients. And no chemical pesticides are used: Kowtow states, cotton uses “25% of the world’s insecticide market and 10% of global pesticide sales, making it the most pesticide-intensive crop grown on the planet.”

We don’t believe anyone who is truly aware of what is going on in the world would want to turn their heads and support a slave trade economy.

Being into clothes we decided to do something about it. Certified fairtrade organic clothing that is ethically and sustainably made from seed to garment.

To further support their strong stance on making better, Kowtow traveled to India to document their supply chain from seed to garment.
