Some say the era of the Mom + Pop-brand is on its way out, as large corporations fervently snatch up local vendors and destroy the DIY culture. Yet, it’s not all bad because if anyone has joyfully turned a head away from the phenomena, it’s the employees at Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day. Their success has been catapulted by their dedication to simplicity and adherence to their DIY philosophy.
Just above the bustling Soho streets, an early Christmas extravaganza was under way–celebrating the new launch of Mrs. Meyer’s Cranberry scented line of cleaning products. Available in their four classic models (liquid dish soap, hand soap, countertop spray, and scented candle), the tangy yet sweet aroma of fresh cranberries do a perfect job of ushering in the preemptive Christmas season.
All of Mrs. Meyer’s products are biodegrable and BPA free. And each is made from natural essential oils and plant-derived ingredients. No harsh chemicals are added: They are also free of ammonia, chlorine bleach and other harmful parabens and phosphates. Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day is aware of the dangers of using ecologically harmful agents and consciously chooses to use earth-friendly products.
In addition to hearing about their eco-sustainable mission, the major highlight of the evening was the guest appearance of the actual Mrs. Thelma A. Meyers. Yes, the legend herself, a sweet, Midwestern gem who bakes a heavenly English toffee—unrivaled on either side of the Mississippi.

After spending a few moments with her, we sat down to decorating blank Christmas cards for children in need.
Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day is generously donating the proceeds from the evening to the Lollipop Theatre Network, an organization that brings private screenings of in-theatre movies to hospitalized children. These special showings are accompanied by celebrity appearances, which brighten up the lives of children across the nation. Mrs. Meyer’s believes that creating a mindful product is just the beginning; reaching out in the community is where their impact is fully appreciated. All proceeds from this event were directly donated to the Lollipop foundation and each and every hand made Christmas card will be given to a child in need.
And to bring in the season in an overtly joyous fashion, Mrs. Meyer’s herself has provided us with her homemade secret recipe for a refreshing cranberry Spritzer. Enjoy!
12 ice cubes
2 ½ cups of ginger ale or other seltzer
2 cups 100% cranberry juice
2 tablespoons honey
1 orange, thinly sliced
1. Pour Ginger Ale, cranberry juice into a pitcher. Mix in honey, and stir for a minute.
2. Serve over ice. Garnish with orange slices.

If you are of age and in good health—a splash of vodka never hurts.
